Ch.4 Apologies

It has been weeks since Noelle went out of her room. She just lays there on her bed doing nothing. The only other thing she bothers to do is eat. Mom is really worried about her and won’t stop bothering me.

I do feel really about what I did, I didn’t mean for this to happen. But I guess I should apologize, and tell her what I did. It’s not like she could kill me or anything . . right?

I slowly walked into Noelle’s room, and spotted her laying face down on her bed.

“Noelle? Can I talk to you?” I ask her.

She didn’t respond. But I did notice her eyes flicker open for a second. I decided to keep talking, I know she can hear me.

“Noelle. It’s my fault Jason said those nasty things to you . . ,” I paused to see if she was going lunge at my throat or something like that. She didn’t, and I continued.

” . . And I’m really sorry, I did that because of what the fake date thing with Lizzy. I was really mad . . . and I didn’t know what I was thinking. I’m so sorry.” I apologize.

I hear Noelle sigh, and get up off her bed.

“Reese, you’re wrong. It was also my fault, a little. It wouldn’t have happened if it weren’t for me. You don’t have to feel so guilty. And if it makes you feel better, I accept your apology.” She says.

“Oh.” I sigh with relief.

“You know, you’re acting kind of different. Is it a girl?!”

That’s the Noelle I know.

“Yeah. It is, I have a girlfriend. Her name is Piper.” I confess.

“Hmm, that’s weird. I don’t think a girl named Piper goes to our school.”

“Yeah she doesn’t, she said something about that once. . .”

“That doesn’t really matter anyways!  Tell me about her, is she pretty?”

“Well yeah.”

“Is she blonde?”

“No . .”

“Is she tall or short?”

“Neither I guess.”

2 Days Later

“Hey Pipes.”

“Hi!”

“I was wondering. . . are you busy today?” I ask.

“Nope. My schedule is clear so far.” She replies.

“Great. I was hoping that you could meet my parents today?”

“Sure, I would like that. What time?”

“5 would be good.”

“Okay, see you then.”

“Bye.”

I told Mom that I invited my girlfriend over to meet her and Dad. She said she couldn’t wait to meet her and all that junk. Mom also said that she was going to make hot dogs and that we could have dinner with her outside. Noelle passed on that, and the others weren’t here.

 It turns out Mom sent Sydney, Liam, and Spencer to boarding school. I was pretty surprised when she told me and Noelle that. We only had a few hours to say goodbye.

When Piper I arrived, we all went out to the backyard, and took our seats. Mom was pretty pleased with Piper; she kept asking her lots questions.

“Piper! Such a lovely name! Did your mother think of that name?”

“Umm, actually I don’t know. My father left me when I was four years old, and my mother died shortly after in a car crash.”

“Oh, you poor thing. I’m so sorry.”

“No it’s okay really. I don’t remember anything about them.”

“So you live with your foster parents?” Jake asks.

“Parent. I have a foster mom, but she’s more like a Mom to me.”

“Piper, did you know my mom adopted me? And my all my other siblings.” I tell her. She might as well know.

“Really, Reese? I didn’t know that . . you guys look so alike to me.”

“Yeah right! Me and Mom look nothing alike!” I laugh.

Soon enough it got dark and our plates were empty. It was also time for Noelle to go.

I watched as my girlfriend said her goodbye to  my Mom. It was good to know that she liked her.

“It was nice meeting you Mrs. Chance.”

“Same to you, Piper. Feel free to come over anytime you want.”

“Goodnight Reese.” Piper said before she kissed me lightly on the lips.

“G’night Pipes. Do you need me to walk you home? Or anything.” I smiled.

“I’ll be fine, thanks.” She smiled back.

As soon as Piper was gone Mom came over to talk to me.

“Piper is such a sweet girl, how come you haven’t invited her over before?”

“I don’t know, just didn’t feel like it.”

Mom laughed. “Lazy Reese. Anyways, I really do like her. I never knew you would grow up this fast Reese, next thing you know it you will be graduating highschool, getting married, having babies . . .”

“I love you too, Mom. But I have to go to bed now so, Night’.”

“Goodnight, sleep tight, and don’t let the bed bugs bite!”

“Yeah, yeah.”
